In an attempt to help get the word out about book 4 in the
Fablehaven series, I thought I'd post the cover. Though there are a lot of dragons in the book, we went with this huge hydra on the cover. It was a blast to paint! I think it releases in March.

wow! that looks amazing!
It must have taken hours! my bet is on at least 10!
Good job on making the hydra look friendly. How do you manage to make lovable monsters so well?
Also, the colors and the motion are great.
Awesome Brandon! I think this cover is one of my favorites, even though I like the one with the toad thingy as well. How's life? Still in Rexburg?
Hi Brandon,
Another great book cover you are a master of such things.
Any chance of doing a blog on the process of making a book cover so we have a idea how you go about it!!!
All the best.
Vincent

Hey thanks for the kind comments guys. This was a fun cover to paint.
J.N. - I honestly can't tell you how many hours this took. I'm super scatter-brained, and jump back-n-forth from multiple projects most of the time. If I took a guess . . . probably around 13 hrs. The jacket is a wrap so there is still more to it than shown here.
Lance - I'm glad you like it. My whole goal during school was always to please you, hehe. . . No, not in Rexburg anymore. We live about an hour south of Seattle.
Mike - I just picture your cute face while I paint!
Later!
Nice interpretation of the hydra. Great colors and readability.
Happy New Year.

Hello wow i liked these books and to think we are related some how
Brandon, when ever the kids at school check out your books I tell them I know the artist. Everyone loves your artwork, then we have to look up your web site. If you ever come this way let us know. I bet our art teacher would love to have you come to the art club and talk. Keep up the great work.
Your capture of color is astounding. I have followed the Fablehaven series and loved the covers of the book. Brandon Mull is coming to my school in 3 weeks, so I decided to do some more research and found your site. As the mother of an aspiring artist, I tend to gravitate to the illustrators. Wow! is the best I can come up with at the moment.
