WHAT'S THE STORY

Quite a while ago I had sketched out this little scene in Photoshop. I found the file and painted it recently. Since I've shown it around, I've been ask many times "so, what's the story behind this?" In truth there really is no story. But as I look at how I make images, I see that many of my illustrations do hold untold stories. I have always loved the book THE MYSTERIES OF HARRIS BURDICK for this reason. In his book, Chris Van Allsburg gives us just enough to wet our visual taste buds and then leaves the rest to our imagination. The wonderful thing is, stories have no limits.

This painting has some great softness to the grass and the fox fur. Also, I think it's funny how you sound all smart in your explanation.

How is the new house?

I think its funny that Mike feels the need to say something smart in all of his comments on your blog.
So I really like the foxes in this. I need to practice drawing animals more. These guys have really great gestures to them.

I love this piece! You really sense the quietness of the woods and the fluid movements of the foxes. The painting is wonderful too. I think Harris Burdock should be a whole genre, books where the narritive is only hinted at.

I just read Manelle's comment. That's so true, why am I like that?
